Computer Science Lab Policies

A Work in Progress since...

Students in the CS labs are expected to clean up after themselves. Students are expected to log off computers, not shut them down, after using them.

Cell phone use is prohibited in CS labs.

Laptops are not allowed on the wired network in any of the CS labs.

Laptops are to be plugged into wall outlets, not the power strips in the tables' cable trays.

Students are not to tamper with cables and peripherals. Tampering will be considered an act of vandalism/sabotage and referred to Student Judicial Services.

Students are expected to leave work stations in the same arrangement/condition as they were found. If you move equipment out of your way, please be considerate of the next person. Don't change settings for desktop pictures, log-in items, etc.

CS accounts are needed for full access to CS lab services (printing, etc.). CS students are urged to activate their CS accounts and use them in the CS labs (NOTICE: CS accounts are currently in limbo. There are no new accounts being created. There are no passwords being reset. Please do not bug the CS lab coordinator about it. Your name goes to the end of the list.)

Students are required to follow the instructions and directions of lab staff at all times.

Lab staff are empowered and expected to call DPS if students fail to comply with CS lab policies.

Failure to comply with EMU or CS policies can result in permanent banning from the CS labs.

Please don't use the wastebaskets as toilets (We have people who think EVERYTHING needs to be clearly stated, so I'm giving them what they insist upon having).
